# External Channels

> Deploy an agent as its own Slack bot to receive and reply in channels and DMs.

External channels connect an agent to Slack under its own bot identity — distinct from the shared Major Slack integration. Users @mention the bot or DM it directly, and the agent responds as itself (for example, "Data Analyst") rather than as the generic Major bot. Replies in the Slack thread continue the same Major session, so context carries forward across the conversation.
