# major agent

> Create, clone, run, and manage file-based agents from the CLI.

`major agent` manages [agents](/learn/agents/overview) as local folders. An agent folder holds two files, `agent.jsonc` and `prompt.md`, plus a `.major/config.json` that links the folder to the agent. Once you have a folder, edit the files and use [`major validate`, `major push`, and `major publish`](/reference/cli/sync) to save and release changes.

Every `major agent` subcommand accepts `--json` to print one JSON result.

Commands that take `--id` default to the agent of the folder you run them in. Outside an agent folder, pass `--id`.

## major agent list

List the agents in your organization, with their IDs and whether each is published or a draft.

## major agent create

Create a new agent and set up a local folder for it. The directory must not exist yet.

## major agent clone

Download an existing agent's latest saved version into a new local folder. Without `--id`, you pick from the agents you can edit.

| `--dir` | New directory. Defaults to the agent ID. |

## major agent info

Show an agent's published state and latest saved version. Inside the agent's folder, it also shows your local version and whether it is behind the latest.

## major agent run

Start a run of the agent's published version. The command prints the run ID.

major agent run --prompt <prompt> [flags]

| `-p`, `--prompt` | Initial prompt for the run. Required. |
| `--name` | Run title shown in Major. |
| `--id` | Agent ID. Defaults to the agent folder's. |

### major agent run list

List the agent's runs, newest first.

major agent run list [flags]
```

| `--id` | Agent ID. Defaults to the agent folder's. |
| `--limit` | Maximum runs to return. Default 20. |
| `--offset` | Runs to skip. |
| `--live` | Only runs with a live session. |
| `--mine` | Only runs you started. |
| `--source` | Only runs from this source: `web`, `slack`, `external_channel`, `app`, `schedule`, `manual`, `agent`, `workflow`. |

### major agent run content

Read a run's messages.

### major agent run send

Send a message to a run, resuming it if it finished.

major agent run send <runId> --message <message>

### major agent run stop

Stop a run.

major agent run stop <runId>
```

## major agent slack

Manage the agent's own Slack app. All `major agent slack` subcommands take `--id`, which defaults to the agent folder's.

### major agent slack connect

Provision the agent's Slack app and print its install URL.

major agent slack connect [flags]
```

### major agent slack pause

Silence the agent's Slack app.

```bash theme={null}
major agent slack pause [flags]
```

### major agent slack resume

Re-enable a paused Slack app.

```bash theme={null}
major agent slack resume [flags]
```

### major agent slack delete

Permanently delete the agent's Slack app. You are asked to confirm unless you pass `--yes`.
